Ross County defender Kacper Lopata has stated that the situation at the foot of the Premiership table “is looking like a scrap,” but he maintains that the team possesses the necessary determination and resolve to ascend the standings. Currently in tenth place, County is positioned only two points above the lowest spot, with St Johnstone and Hearts occupying the positions beneath them. Prior to Saturday’s match against St Mirren, Lopata remarked: “Every point is vital and it is looking like a scrap. It is just about who wants to roll their sleeves up and have a fight and I know our boys will for sure.” He added, referring to a previous statement by the manager following the game against Hibs: “Like the gaffer said after that game against Hibs, we will find out who has got the guts now to step up and I am sure our lads will.” Lopata continued: “We are good, honest lads, hard workers. I don’t think there is a better chance to do it than against St Mirren, that game itself is going to be a scrap, so what better way to do it?” In their most recent fixture, County initially secured an early lead against Hibs but ultimately suffered a 3-1 defeat. The team is now aiming to resume winning form following a sequence of three consecutive losses. Lopata commented on the previous match, stating: “I think we have thrown the game away and we should have put it to bed. We were really dominant in the first half and should have buried the game.” He further explained: “But if we are going to do that I would rather do it now than when it is crunch time near the end of the season.” The 23-year-old Lopata joined Dingwall in the summer on a season-long loan agreement from Barnsley, a team in English League One. The former Poland youth international reflected on his experience, saying: “I think it has been really good for me. I look back at my games, I think I am improving. I have still got more to give.”
