The past week at Easter Road has been considerably more enjoyable for supporters compared to some periods experienced over recent years. The 3-3 draw with Aberdeen was an epic encounter filled with late drama, and the entertainment provided left very few inside the stadium with cause for complaint. Subsequently, on Saturday, Hibs delivered an almost flawless performance in defeating a Motherwell side, who are typically challenging to overcome on their home ground. The players have been vocal in their support for manager David Gray. Over the last two matches, a reduction in errors has led to much-needed points and a boost for everyone at the club. The psychological benefit of moving off the bottom of the Premiership table is massive, even though a considerable period remains before the league concludes in May. A club of Hibs’ size should not be in their current position, and it is now incumbent upon the staff and squad to improve their standing. However, with Celtic as their next opponent, they face the toughest challenge in the country – a team characterized by pace and goals. If Hibs can navigate that game relatively unscathed, it could set the stage for an exciting December for the fans and contribute to a more positive conclusion to what has been a hugely disappointing 2024.
