A new chairman has been named to lead the board of directors for Jersey Sport. The charity confirmed the unanimous selection of Andrew Whelan, citing his experience in the finance sector, to manage its “overall performance, reporting and governance.” Jersey Sport, which receives support from the government, aims to ensure that sport and physical activity are accessible to all islanders. Mr. Whelan stated he was “delighted” to undertake the voluntary position, having previously represented Jersey in basketball and rugby. He remarked: “Having played sport within and for the island over the past four decades it is wonderful to be able to contribute to the continued development and growth of island sport.”
