Police have confirmed the death of a man subsequent to a stabbing incident in Plymouth. Devon and Cornwall Police stated that officers were dispatched to Cambridge Road around 14:30 GMT on Monday, responding to reports of a man having been stabbed. On Tuesday, the force provided an update, announcing that a 36-year-old man, a resident of Plymouth, was pronounced deceased at the location, and that a murder investigation had commenced. Detective Chief Inspector Steve Fleetwood, who is the senior investigating officer for the case, stated that cordons were still active and that officers were actively seeking two individuals. He further mentioned that law enforcement was aware of the identities of these men and that “inquiries are ongoing to find them”. Detective Chief Inspector Fleetwood indicated that a “heightened police presence” would be observable in the days ahead as officers collect evidence with the aim to “bring an offender to justice for the victim’s family”. He stated, “At this time, I would like to reassure the community and further afield in Plymouth that there is no suggestion that there is a wider risk to members of the public.” Detective Chief Inspector Fleetwood also noted that a weapon potentially involved in the incident had been confiscated. He verified that it was “not any form of firearm”.
