An individual from Lincolnshire has been named the recipient of The RAF’s Photographer of the Year award. Andrew Wheeler is employed at RAF Cranwell, where his duties involve documenting various occurrences such as graduation ceremonies, sports events, visits by aircraft, and appearances by dignitaries. Mr. Wheeler stated he was “absolutely blown away” upon learning of his win, adding that this recognition marked the zenith of his professional journey. His award-winning portfolio comprised six images, showcasing a diverse array of proficiencies across different photographic techniques. The RAF reported that it had received more than 1,000 images submitted across a variety of distinct categories, and the results were announced at the RAF Photographic Competition Awards ceremony held at Bentley Priory. Mr. Wheeler remarked: “I was absolutely blown away to receive the award. It makes all the hard work, wet days, hot days and freezing days out waiting for the perfect shot worth it and is truly the pinnacle of my career.”
