Three individuals taken into custody in connection with the possession of offensive weapons, subsequent to the evacuation of Glasgow’s Buchanan Bus Station, have been set free without facing any charges. A controlled explosion was conducted by the bomb disposal unit following reports of a suspicious item at 13:10 on Wednesday. Nevertheless, no suspicious contents were discovered. Police Scotland stated that the initial alert was “treated as a credible threat.” The bus terminal resumed operations at 21:45, concluding a day of significant disruption for Glasgow’s city centre and its public transportation network. Scotland’s most active bus station underwent evacuation, leading to the closure of adjacent streets. The campus of Glasgow Caledonian University, situated nearby, was also evacuated as a precautionary measure. Furthermore, train services originating from Queen Street, which traverse a tunnel beneath Killermont Street and the bus station, experienced disruptions. Superintendent Derrick Johnston commented: “The initial report was treated as a credible threat and, as a precautionary measure and in accordance with procedures, the surrounding area was closed to the public and a cordon put in place.” He added: “The Royal Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal team (EOD) carried out a controlled explosion after an assessment was made of the impact to nearby gas mains and local train lines.” Johnston concluded: “The item was then examined and confirmed to be innocent in nature, posing no risk to the public.” Post navigation Roadside Vision Checks Implemented for Drivers as Evenings Darken Family Seeks Public Assistance in Search for Missing Teenager
