A man has died following a house fire in Wick, Caithness. Firefighters were dispatched to the property on West Banks Terrace just before 13:00 on Wednesday. Authorities confirmed that a man’s body was discovered by police after the fire had been extinguished. A spokesperson for the police stated: “His death is being treated as unexplained and inquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.” The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) confirmed that two appliances were sent to the incident. Area commander Michael Humphreys commented: “Sadly, one man was found to have passed away at the scene. Our thoughts remain with all those affected at this difficult time.” A collaborative investigation involving Police Scotland and SFRS is planned to be conducted in due course.
