Two young students have contributed their personal funds to acquire toys intended for children who might otherwise go without presents during the Christmas season. The cousins, Rupert, aged six, from Scarborough, and Ralph, aged seven, from Filey, allocated £10 for these gifts, which The Rainbow Centre will then distribute to families. This charitable organization provides assistance to individuals within the community experiencing homelessness, vulnerability, or crisis situations. Ralph stated that their intention was for the toys to reach “children who have nothing”. The family of the boys has a history of donating toys, and for the current year, they gathered items such as dolls, dolls’ houses, jigsaws, remote control cars, books, clothes, jewellery, cuddly toys, and tool sets. Rupert further commented: “I have lots of toys and these children might not have many toys, so we will give some pocket money so they can have some.” Natalie Agars, a fundraising officer at The Rainbow Centre, remarked: “It’s lovely to see the boys and the young generation considering and wanting to help children less fortunate.“The gifts will bring some Christmas joy to the children receiving them and alleviate some of the financial burden for the parents.“The gifts are given to the children of the families who are registered for our support.” For highlights from North Yorkshire, listeners can tune into BBC Sounds, view the most recent episode of Look North, or submit a story for consideration.
