Influencer Molly-Mae Hague has conveyed her “shock” regarding her recent separation from her fiancé, professional boxer Tommy Fury. She stated that she had been anticipating their wedding, scheduled for next September, and affirmed that her desire to marry Fury “would never have changed”. The couple first met in 2019 on ITV’s dating program Love Island and became engaged in 2023. They are parents to their daughter, Bambi, who was born early last year. Their separation was announced in August through individual social media updates, marking this as Hague’s initial interview since the announcement. Both individuals are 25 years old, and they were widely considered the most prominent couple to emerge from Love Island. When questioned by British Vogue about the abruptness of the breakup, she responded: “Yeah. I mean. It was a bit of a shock.” She further expressed that she “didn’t want what happened to happen” and reiterated her strong desire to marry Tommy, stating, “wanted to get married to Tommy, 100%, and that would never have changed”. She also stated: “I wanted to get married next September and it’s very hard when it’s kind of taken away. But I will always have a lot of love and respect for him.” The announcement of their separation surprised their extensive fanbase. Hague informed her 7.9 million Instagram followers, stating: “I am extremely upset to announce that mine and Tommy’s relationship has come to an end.” She further wrote: “After five years of being together I never imagined our story would end, especially not this way.” In a separate statement, Fury conveyed that he was “heartbroken” and requested privacy from fans. He also expressed gratitude to Hague for “making me a dad,” emphasizing: “Bambi is our priority.” Hague noted that at the time, individuals were remarking, “it’s Princess Diana and Charles,” drawing a comparison to the separation of King Charles III and the late Princess of Wales. Her personal distress was also evident, as she stated: “[I] had a few days,” where she thought, “‘I don’t really know how I’m going to get through this.’” In October, Fury presented his perspective in an interview with the Daily Mail, refuting claims of infidelity towards Hague. He asserted: “All the allegations that were made of me recently are completely false.” He also conveyed a desire for reconciliation with Hague, referring to her as “the woman of my dreams.” Hague, for her part, stated: “no one will ever really know what went down apart from Tommy and I, and that’s how we’d like to keep it, for Bambi’s sake.” However, she suggested that her former partner might share more details in the future, remarking: “I do think that he will talk about things eventually. I do think that when he’s ready, like, maybe more will be said. But I think that’s for him to do on his terms.” She further commented: “It’s not like it’s gossip, it’s real life and it’s, you know, it’s a really deep situation. It’s really sad.” During the interview, Hague also verified her upcoming role in a new three-hour documentary series for Prime Video, scheduled for release in early 2025. The series is being produced by the same team responsible for Netflix’s At Home with the Furys and is anticipated to offer viewers insight into various aspects of her life. Hague informed the magazine: “So far, so good. I’ve not lost my mind with the cameras in my house all the time.” She additionally mentioned that co-parenting was progressing positively, noting that both individuals were being “really mature about it,” and discussed her enjoyment of motherhood now that Bambi has reached the toddler stage. She expressed: “I absolutely adore it. If I could have a million more babies that are at this stage, I would do it.” Copyright 2024 BBC. All rights reserved.
