Plymouth Argyle head coach Wayne Rooney has announced his intention to consult with the club’s board regarding potential contract extensions for Andre Gray and Marko Marosi. Gray had been a free agent since his departure from his Saudi Arabian club in the summer. Both players are currently on short-term contracts that are scheduled to expire in early January, having initially joined to provide cover for injuries. Striker Gray has netted three goals in nine appearances, including two notable strikes during the 2-2 draw with Watford approximately a month ago. Goalkeeper Marosi was brought in after Conor Hazard underwent ankle surgery; he has not featured in a match but has served as backup for Dan Grimshaw. “I think Andre’s done really well,” Rooney stated. He added, “I’ll have a meeting with the board to see where we’re at, I think that’s really important to see exactly what we can do in January.” Rooney further explained, “We’ve had early meetings but I want to finalise so I know exactly what we can do.” He noted that this “obviously influences the decision with Andre and Marko and players coming in.” Wayne Rooney has expressed satisfaction with Marko Marosi’s attitude at Argyle. “At the minute I can’t guarantee anything on any players, but I think once I get confirmation of exactly what we can do I’ll know exactly where we stand on those two and potential players coming in.” Despite both his primary goalkeepers now being fit, Rooney indicated a desire to retain Marosi. The Slovakian keeper joined the club last summer after leaving Shrewsbury Town. “If not you’re always at risk of a keeper getting injured and you’re having to go out.” Rooney praised Marosi, stating, “Marko’s been great, a fantastic attitude. Even though he hasn’t played his attitude in training has really helped the group and push Grimmy on and now push Conor on as well.” Rooney concluded, “He knew the role when he came in and he’s been really professional and a great asset to his teammates.” Post navigation Newcastle and Liverpool Reportedly Pursue Bryan Mbeumo West Ham’s Lopetegui Discusses Touchline Ban, London Stadium, and Arsenal Match
