A significant new venue in Derby is currently undergoing a recruitment drive for its workforce. The Becketwell Live arena, which boasts a 3,500-capacity and is scheduled to launch in the spring, will host music, comedy, and conferences. ASM Global, the entertainment operator managing the facility, intends to hire 130 individuals for a combination of full-time and part-time, as well as permanent and temporary, positions. Kate Jones, who is spearheading the hiring process, stated that certain roles have already been filled. She also indicated that the venue is presently seeking a security manager, a marketing manager, and sales and box office personnel, with approximately 100 additional positions expected to become available in the new year. Miss Jones, ASM Global’s talent acquisition manager, commented: “We are envisaging 30 permanent positions on site, with an additional events team in place, depending on the events at the arena.” She continued, “We don’t take possession of the building until the turn of the year so it is a phased approach to recruitment.” She further elaborated, “We will probably be recruiting for 100-plus roles in between February and April time. They will be working the events – working our bars, our conferencing and banqueting spaces.” Miss Jones added, “We will have opportunities in our ticketing department, as well as security opportunities.” She also mentioned: “In terms of some of our part-time roles, we work around the needs of the candidates so those contracts will be a lot shorter and they are linked to the events we have on.” Job openings will be posted on the ASM Global website, and Becketwell Live maintains a “talent bank” where individuals can register their interest.
