Manchester City’s academy products, Lily Murphy and Codie Thomas, have officially signed their initial professional contracts with the team. Murphy has been a consistent presence in training sessions with the Manchester City first team throughout the current season. The 18-year-old Murphy has participated in five matches this season, having first appeared during the 3-0 victory against Paris FC in the Women’s Champions League qualifying rounds. As a forward, she also entered the field as a substitute in November’s 4-0 Women’s Super League triumph over Tottenham, held at Etihad Stadium. Murphy expressed her sentiments, stating, “It’s an amazing feeling for me and my family. Growing up supporting City, it’s a different feeling. The club have been so supportive and given me so much advice. I’ve learned a lot. They have really helped me on my journey.” Thomas, also 18, who plays as a defender, marked her first senior appearance in the Women’s Champions League group stage win against St Polten. She also accompanied the squad during their pre-season preparations. Thomas commented, “Being an academy player and coming through, I’ve always felt valued. Finally getting on the pitch and representing the club at senior level is great.” Post navigation Welsh Rugby Union Chief Executive anticipates possible future negative media coverage Liverpool and Newcastle Reportedly Eye Brentford Forward Bryan Mbeumo
