A man has entered a not guilty plea to charges of murdering a mother and her two daughters, who died in an incident involving a crossbow and knife at their residence. Carol Hunt, aged 61, sustained fatal stab wounds, while her daughters Hannah Hunt, 28, and Louise Hunt, 25, died from injuries inflicted by crossbow bolts. These deaths occurred in Bushey, Hertfordshire, on July 9. Kyle Clifford, 26, residing in Enfield, north London, also pleaded not guilty to two charges of possessing an offensive weapon and one charge of false imprisonment. His plea was entered during a court appearance conducted via video link at Cambridge Crown Court. The victims were identified as the wife and daughters of John Hunt, a BBC racing commentator. A preliminary date for the trial has been scheduled for March 3. Mr. Clifford, appearing remotely from HMP Belmarsh, submitted not guilty pleas for all existing charges, with the exception of a recently added rape charge, for which he is not currently obligated to enter a plea. The Cambridge Crown Court was informed that this particular charge pertains to Louise Hunt. The accusation of false imprisonment states that Mr. Clifford “assaulted and unlawfully and injuriously imprisoned Louise Hunt and detained her against her will”. An official inquest determined that Mrs. Hunt’s death resulted from stab wounds to her chest and abdomen, whereas both her daughters succumbed to injuries caused by a crossbow. Following the fatalities, Mr. Hunt and his third daughter, Amy, had previously released a statement, which conveyed: “The devastation we are experiencing cannot be put into words.” This material is copyrighted by the BBC in 2024, with all rights reserved.
