A Christmas Tree of Remembrance has been revealed within a shopping centre located in Wolverhampton. Individuals had the opportunity to donate £5 to a charitable cause to have the name of a deceased loved one exhibited close to the holiday tree at the Wulfrun Shopping Centre. The centre reported that since its establishment in 2003, the tree has generated more than £120,000 for various charitable initiatives, with over 600 individuals commemorated during the previous year. Councillor Linda Leach, the city’s mayor, officially revealed the tree on Saturday. For the current year, four charitable organizations are set to receive contributions facilitated by the local Rotary club, which serves as the event’s organizer. Lorraine McCarthy, who serves as president of the City of Wolverhampton Rotary Club and whose daughter passed away from bowel cancer in 2018, stated: “If you have lost a loved one Christmas can be a difficult time.”The Tree of Remembrance has become an important part of many peoples Christmas tradition and over the years has given a lot of people a degree of comfort at this time of year”.
