Boxer Dennis McCann, who holds a record of 16 wins and one draw, has been removed from the undercard of the Tyson Fury versus Oleksandr Usyk 2 event scheduled for December 21. This removal follows an adverse finding detected in his pre-fight test administered by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (Vada). McCann, a London native, was slated to compete against Peter McGrail of Liverpool in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The 23-year-old super-bantamweight, McCann, maintains an undefeated streak across his 17 professional bouts. Promoter Queensberry issued a statement on X, external, confirming: “The Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) has today informed all relevant parties that Dennis McCann has returned an adverse finding following an anti-doping test conducted in advance of his upcoming bout.” The statement continued: “Mr. McCann’s scheduled fight next Saturday will no longer take place, as the relevant parties investigate the matter further. No further comment on this will be made at this time.” In July, McCann secured the vacant European super-bantamweight title by defeating Romania’s Ionut Baluta. The main event will feature Briton Tyson Fury and WBC, WBO, and WBA champion Oleksandr Usyk, marking their second encounter this year. Usyk previously triumphed over Fury via split-decision in May, thereby becoming the inaugural undisputed heavyweight champion of the four-belt era. Nevertheless, for the upcoming bout, only three championship belts will be contested, as the Ukrainian relinquished the IBF strap in June.
