Dundee United’s manager, Jim Goodwin, has agreed to a contract extension at Tannadice, which will keep him at the club until the summer of 2026. Goodwin has led the team since March 2023. The 42-year-old previously guided the club to promotion to the top flight as Championship winners. Currently, the team holds fourth place in the league standings, having accumulated 16 points from their initial 11 fixtures. “It was an easy decision,” stated the manager, who previously managed St Mirren and Aberdeen. He initially took on the role in March 2023 under a short-term agreement. He added, “The club’s long-term vision aligns perfectly with my own ambitions as a manager.” Goodwin further commented, “Last year was an incredibly special one, and I’m immensely proud to have played a part in helping Dundee United reclaim their rightful place among the top clubs in Scotland.” For the Premiership season, Goodwin brought in 13 new players, and the team has commenced the campaign favorably, with only three league defeats. He continued by saying, “It is important for our focus always to remain on the future and making improvements across the board, on a daily, monthly and yearly basis,” He elaborated, “We are trying to cultivate and maintain a culture conducive to prolonged success, and for this to be achieved, our talented group of players and hard-working staff must continue to buy into what is being asked of them.” Goodwin concluded, “An exciting challenge lies ahead of me, both for the remainder of the season and beyond, and I am eager to embrace it with continued support from my backroom team and the board.”
