England international and St Helens second-rower Paige Travis has departed her current club to sign with the National Women’s Rugby League (NRLW) team Parramatta Eels, a contract that extends until 2026. Travis has earned eight caps for England, notably scoring in their 82-0 victory against Wales earlier this month. The 25-year-old player was a key member of the Saints team, which has recently achieved significant success in women’s rugby league. This includes securing a historic treble in 2021, comprising the Women’s Challenge Cup, League Leaders’ Shield, and Women’s Super League. Additionally, she contributed to four consecutive Challenge Cup victories from 2021 to 2024, a run that featured the inaugural final held at Wembley in 2023. Travis expressed her excitement about the move on the Australian club’s website, stating, “I am thrilled to be joining the Parramatta Eels and to challenge myself in the NRLW.” She added, “I’ve watched a lot of NRLW games, and the Eels have really impressed me as a team who play with passion and for each other.” During her tenure with Saints, Travis participated in 65 matches, accumulating 35 tries and a total of 140 points. Her international career includes eight England caps, and she represented her nation in the 2021 Rugby League World Cup. Speaking to the Saints website, the departing Travis reflected on her time, saying, “My six years at this incredible club has taught me a lot about myself, both on and off the field.” She further commented, “I love the girls and the staff, they have become part of my family – but it’s time for me to push myself and take this next step in my career.”
