Police have released an image of a missing man, whom they suspect may have been murdered after leaving a pub. Cumali Turhan, 45, was last contacted when he was at The Globe, located on Rainsford Road in Chelmsford, shortly after midnight on Tuesday. Essex Police indicated they believe he might have later visited Barista, a city centre venue on Duke Street. Although a body has not been discovered, the force announced that a 44-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with Mr Turhan’s disappearance. Police reported that the suspect was being interrogated on Friday as specialized search and forensic teams continued their efforts. Det Ch Insp Louise Metcalfe stated that officers are constructing a timeline of the circumstances leading to Mr Turhan’s disappearance, including the potential involvement of other individuals. “He is being treated as a missing person but as part of our investigation a man is in custody having been arrested on suspicion of murder,” she said. “I need anyone who may have seen him in The Globe pub around midnight from Monday into Tuesday, or in and around the area of Barista in the early hours of the Tuesday to contact us.” Det Ch Insp Metcalfe urged anyone who observed “anything suspicious” in Duke Street during the early hours of Tuesday to get in touch.
