Leicester captain Jamie Vardy scored a goal just 98 seconds into Ruud van Nistelrooy’s inaugural match as manager. Bilal El Khannouss and Patson Daka subsequently found the net, securing a victory against West Ham. This marks the sixth occasion Vardy has scored the initial Premier League goal under a new Leicester City manager in the top division. Additionally, Vardy previously surpassed Van Nistelrooy’s record for consecutive Premier League goals, achieving 11 in a row for Leicester in 2015. On Monday, Van Nistelrooy lightheartedly referenced this history, stating he had told Vardy they had a “big issue” to resolve before they could begin working together. Following Tuesday’s win, Vardy commented to Amazon Prime: “We’ve had one full day together. You could see some stuff worked and some was rusty. We’ve got more time for the manager to get his things across.” Leicester defender Conor Coady added: “The lads put in a great shift. We can play better. It was all about winning – it was one for the manager.” He further stated, “The weekend was a dark place but you have to dig deep. We’ve got a long way to go but it’s a great start.” Post navigation Rose Urges RB Leipzig to Embrace Atmosphere Amidst Champions League Struggles The Importance of Squad Balance in Premier League Football
