The household waste and recycling centre along with the green waste site in Guernsey could experience closures or reduced operating hours this weekend. The States of Guernsey announced that the opening times at Guernsey Waste might be affected by Storm Bert and the anticipated high winds. Operations manager Sarah Robinson stated that they would be “monitoring the conditions closely” and would make a determination in the interest of public and staff safety. She added: “We will provide an update through our social media accounts, website and the traditional media if we have to close, so please check before paying a visit to one of our sites this weekend.” Jersey Met issued an orange warning for gale force winds across the Channel Islands. Forecasters urged the public to remain vigilant and to check the latest forecast. Follow BBC Guernsey on X and Facebook. Send your story ideas to channel.islands@bbc.co.uk.Copyright 2024 BBC.
