A new bridge, designed for use by cyclists and pedestrians, has been inaugurated in Leamington Spa. On Wednesday, the structure connecting Radford Road and Newbold Comyn Country Park was officially opened by a gathering that included runners, cyclists, and representatives from Warwick District Council. This 3.5-meter-wide (11ft) structure, spanning the River Leam, was put in place during November. It is also designed to accommodate wheelchair users and individuals operating mobility scooters. This new bridge replaces a previous one, which had been taken down in March following its closure in August 2023 due to safety concerns. Councillor Will Roberts commented, stating: “It’s wonderful to finally see a new and much improved Radford Road Bridge fully installed and open just in time for the festive season.” According to the council, the remaining work, including fencing, landscaping, and planting around the site, is scheduled for completion in the upcoming weeks.
