Newport County manager Nelson Jardim is confronting a significant midfield injury crisis. Despite this challenge, he remains committed to implementing his preferred playing style at the League Two club. Newport will be without Aaron Wildig, their co-captain and joint top scorer, for the remainder of the season due to a serious knee injury. Additionally, “the Exiles” will again miss wide player Bobby Kamwa, who is sidelined with a hamstring issue, for Saturday’s challenging match against Notts County. Notts County currently holds sixth place in League Two, occupying a play-off position. The injury list for Newport extends further. Jamie Miley, on loan from Newcastle, remains unavailable due to back spasms, and fellow midfielder Noah Mawene, on loan from Preston, is still several weeks away from returning from a hamstring injury. Left wing-back Anthony Glennon is also among Newport’s injured players, suffering from a back complaint that Jardim described as “tough to get rid of.” Newport has secured only one victory in their last seven league matches. This sole win during that period, a 2-0 triumph at Gillingham, represents one of only two away league victories for the team this season. While Jardim expressed full respect for Notts County, he found encouragement in the team’s overall display during last Saturday’s goalless home draw against Grimsby Town. Jardim stated, “I admire what we did last game at home, that’s what I was looking for. It’s important to know about the others but even more important to know about yourself.” He further commented, “Yes Notts County are going to pose a lot of problems to us but we are expecting to pose a lot of problems to them.” Jardim acknowledged the necessity of making squad changes to address the injuries, anticipating a “new set up in terms of line-up.” Jardim also stated, “We go there to compete and develop our idea of how the football should be played. We are not going to change on that way. We will have to utilise other players.” He concluded, “When you change one or two, everything changes, but the main idea we still have clear in our heads as to the way moving forward.” Post navigation Tottenham, Manchester City, and Chelsea Reportedly Pursue AC Milan’s Reijnders Evan Mooney Reflects on Scoring First Senior Goal at 17
