Andy Legg expressed his conviction that Cardiff City made the appropriate choice by keeping Omer Riza as manager until the conclusion of the season. Riza was appointed as caretaker manager following the dismissal of Erol Bulut in September and subsequently oversaw a notable improvement in the team’s performances and results. On December 5, the Bluebirds officially confirmed that Riza would remain in charge until the end of the season. Legg stated that his former club must now concentrate solely on maintaining their Championship status. Speaking to BBC Radio Wales Breakfast, Legg commented, “Whether it’s the right appointment or not, at least the players know what formation they’re playing and what the manager wants.” He elaborated on the potential issues of a late-season managerial change, explaining, “If a new manager came in at this stage of the season, he’s going to have to change things around, go and buy players and he may not like a few players in the team and rotate them.” Legg concluded his remarks by stating, “I just think they’ve done the right thing, they’ve got a manager until the end of the season and they’ve just got to deal with it now and get themselves out of trouble.”
