Chris Sutton, a former Premier League striker, characterized the disparity in Brentford’s home and away performance this season as “staggering”, following the Bees’ latest home victory against Newcastle United. During an appearance on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Monday Night Club, Sutton remarked: “Brentford would have been top of the Premier League with their home form, but they would have been 19th with their away form.” Their progression throughout the Premier League era has been captivating, especially over the last few seasons, demonstrating significant development. Nevertheless, the inconsistency between their results at home and away fixtures continues to be “a little bit of a head-scratcher”. Andros Townsend, a former England international, further commented: “When I was at Luton last season, Brentford were the team we were looking at. When they came up, they were probably similar to Luton, where everyone looks at you and thinks: ‘Straight back down.'” However, they subsequently defied expectations, consistently building and developing each year to a stage where discussions of Brentford facing relegation are no longer prevalent.
