Emergency service personnel have called on drivers to ensure their parked vehicles do not obstruct crews responding to incidents, following an event where a substantial van impeded access to a fire station. Specifically, a maroon van, measuring 2.6m (9 ft) in width and 8m (26 ft) in length, was positioned across the entry point of Saffron Walden fire station around 17:45 GMT on Wednesday. It departed after a period of 10 minutes, subsequent to being noticed by a firefighter. The Essex County Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that, fortunately, no emergency calls occurred during this interval, and the driver was addressed courteously prior to their departure. Station manager Kev Jenner stated: “We’ve had a number of occasions where people have parked in front of the fire station and blocked the yard.” He further elaborated on the potential consequences, adding: “Not only could this prevent us getting our fire engines out in an emergency, it could also prevent our on-call firefighters parking at the fire station when paged to an incident. “We’d urge residents to park considerately so emergency services always have room to get through.” Post navigation Vauxhall Factory Closure in Luton: Employee Discovers Job Loss via WhatsApp Vauxhall Employees Express Astonishment Over Closure Plans
