Carlisle United owner Tom Piatak has emphasized that achieving better results on the field is of “utmost importance” as he commemorates his first year leading the club. Over his 12 months in charge, Carlisle has secured only seven league victories. During Piatak’s tenure, the club experienced relegation from League One to League Two, and the Cumbrians currently sit 23rd, within the relegation zone. Piatak personally witnessed Carlisle’s sole home win of the current season—a 1-0 triumph over Barrow in August. The team’s only other two league successes have been away from home, a situation that urgently requires betterment. “The improvement on the pitch is of the utmost importance,” stated the Florida-based owner in an open letter addressed to Carlisle supporters. He further assured fans, “Rest assured, the ownership group understands this and is pushing forward on all fronts to improve our position, move up the table, and, ultimately, ascend the football pyramid.” Since assuming control at Brunton Park a year ago, the Piatak family has successfully implemented numerous off-field initiatives. Significant investment and effort have been directed towards enhancing the stadium, training facilities, academy infrastructure, and the overall matchday experience for fans. In September, Mike Williamson was appointed as head coach, succeeding Paul Simpson, and Rob Clarkson recently took on the role of the club’s sporting director. These strategic decisions are integral to the American owners’ ambition to transform Carlisle into a ‘regional powerhouse’. Piatak affirmed, “Carlisle United is poised for greatness, and together, we will build the club into a regional powerhouse that truly owns the north.” He concluded by stating, “With our ambitious plans for growth, we are determined to make Carlisle United a club that inspires pride, not just in Cumbria, but throughout the football world.”
