A proposal for the construction of nearly 200 residences in a Wiltshire town has received its definitive approval. Wiltshire Council formally endorsed the reserved matters on Thursday for a new estate comprising 193 homes, to be situated on land adjacent to Victoria Road in Warminster. This particular development constitutes the third stage of a broader initiative designed to construct as many as 1,000 residences within the locality. Persimmon Homes, the developer, stated that the residences would feature “a clear design structure, architectural style and landscape approach aimed at creating a characterful development”. According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, outline planning permission for the comprehensive 1,000-home undertaking, known as the West Warminster Urban Extension, was granted in 2020. A council report indicates that the plans incorporate both a wastewater treatment facility and a floating treatment wetland. Persimmon Homes also mentioned that this third phase is intended to “integrate with the local context” through the preservation of existing hedgerows and watercourses, alongside the introduction of new footpaths. The application document specified: “The phase three development area is situated next to the already approved phase one, which will deliver a new primary/secondary school with significant open space and a children’s play area.” The broader site is projected to provide additional green spaces, facilities, and land designated for employment.
