Police search specialists from Aberdeen and Inverness are now assisting in the search for a teenager who has been missing on Lewis for four days. Aleksandr Benga, aged 16, was last observed around 08:45 on Monday near a water wheel situated within the grounds of Stornoway’s Lews Castle. Members of the public have been requested to inspect outbuildings, on the possibility that he may have sought shelter from the cold weather. Additionally, Insp David Hall urged the public to review any available CCTV footage for potential sightings of Aleksandr. The teenager has been described as 6ft 2ins tall, with a slim build and short brown hair. His attire at the time of his last sighting included a beige jumper and black jeans. He might also be in possession of a red jacket and a yellow beanie hat. Police Scotland confirmed that extensive search operations in Stornoway are continuing. Insp Hall stated: “We are continuing to appeal for the help of the public in tracing Aleksandr, who has now been missing for over 96 hours.” He continued: “We have been reviewing CCTV and footage provided by members of the public and we now have a better idea of Aleksandr’s whereabouts prior to the sighting at the water wheel, however we still do not know where he went next.” He added: “We are very concerned for this young man’s welfare. Aleksandr, if you see this, please get in touch with us and let us know you are safe.”
