A man has appeared before a court, accused of murdering a woman in the heart of Glasgow. James McCrindle, 53, is alleged to have assaulted and killed Sandie Butler, 40, in the Townhead area on October 29. Court documents state that Mr McCrindle struggled with Ms Butler and “struck her to the body with a knife or similar implement”. She was discovered seriously injured on St Mungo Avenue and was pronounced deceased a short time later. During a private hearing at Glasgow Sheriff Court, Mr McCrindle did not enter a plea to the murder charge. He was remanded in custody and is scheduled to return to court within eight days.
