Mick Harford, Luton Town’s chief recruitment officer, has indicated that the club aims to acquire “two or three” new players during the January transfer window, following a first half of the season significantly affected by injuries. The club currently has six players unavailable due to injuries. Defender Teden Mengi is anticipated to be out for several months after undergoing knee surgery. Additionally, captain Tom Lockyer remains absent while recovering from a cardiac arrest sustained during a Premier League fixture against Bournemouth in December. In an interview with BBC Look East, Harford remarked: “It took us a long, long time to adapt to the Championship. It’s been one step forwards and two back.” He further commented on the team’s injury situation, stating: “Our injuries, while not an excuse, we’ve had quite a few and it’s had a bearing on our season.” Regarding the upcoming transfer window, he added: “It’s a difficult market in January as salaries go through the roof when you try to recruit but we have a few lined up.” Beyond the injury issues, Rob Edwards’ squad has also struggled in away matches this season, having secured only four points from 10 league games played on the road. Nevertheless, despite a series of unfavorable outcomes, particularly in matches away from Kenilworth Road, Harford affirmed the club’s strong backing for its manager. Harford further explained: “There are a lot of reasons for our disappointing away form, the mentality going away from home but Rob Edwards has his finger on it.” He concluded by expressing confidence in the manager’s tenure: “He’s done a tremendous job at the club, along with his coaching staff. I can’t see why he won’t be here for a long time.” Post navigation Wolves Face Crucial Matches; Manager O’Neil’s Tenure Under Scrutiny Eoin Jess Commends Aberdeen’s Capacity for Gritty Victories
