Nottingham Forest’s forward, Chris Wood, has achieved a club first by being designated Premier League player of the month. Wood, who transferred to Nottingham Forest from Newcastle United in 2023, is the inaugural recipient of this award in the team’s history. The captain of New Zealand’s national team secured the accolade, having netted four goals across three matches in October. His contributions were instrumental in Forest’s undefeated streak throughout the month, a period during which Nuno Espirito Santo also received the manager of the month award. The month commenced for Forest with a 1-1 draw against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, a game where they played with 10 men. Wood, notably the first New Zealander to be named Premier League player of the month, found the net two weeks subsequent to this, contributing to Forest’s 1-0 home victory over Crystal Palace, and subsequently scored two goals in a 3-1 away triumph against Leicester City. The New Zealand international initially arrived at Forest in 2023 on a loan agreement from Newcastle United.
