The Guernsey Employment Trust (GET) has been recognized with an award in the United Kingdom for its “impactful work in inclusive employment”. This recognition came in the form of the Small Supported Employment Award, presented at the British Association of Supported Employment’s annual conference. The trust expressed its delight at receiving national recognition, describing it as a “significant achievement” for both the organization and Guernsey. The organization stated that its 15-member team is dedicated to fostering inclusion, a sense of belonging, and meaningful employment opportunities for individuals with disabilities and neurodiversity. The trust also indicated that its operations are guided by “a purpose to bring individuals and organisations together to harness talent and create diverse, inclusive workspaces”. Chief executive Nikki Ioannou-Droushiotis said: “The award is a true validation of the team’s hard work, collaboration, respect and appreciation for one another. “It is testament to our dedication to improving the lives of the disabled community in Guernsey.” The trust further noted its role in advocating for the implementation of Guernsey’s anti-discrimination legislation and its close collaboration with local government, charitable organizations, and the business sector to “embrace” best practices in accordance with the law. The organization reported: “The number of people entering employment and work experience opportunities has increased, and the team has achieved an all-time high job retention rate of 76%, indicating their job matches and levels of support are effective. Meanwhile, the demand for the service continues to grow.” Post navigation Sunderland’s Expanding Medical Cannabis Sector Proposed Tax Changes Raise Concerns for Farming Sector’s Future
