Additional information regarding the storyline of the upcoming Bergerac series, which was filmed in Jersey during the summer, has become available. A recently released promotional video depicts waves breaking on the island’s coastline and features Damian Moloney portraying the titular character, exhibiting distress following his wife’s demise. According to producers, the narrative centers on the homicide of one of Jersey’s most affluent inhabitants. Tricia Warwick, who serves as CEO of Visit Jersey, expressed that she was “delighted” to extend a welcome to the cast and crew in Jersey over the summer period. The lead role of Jim Bergerac is assumed by Irish actor Damien Molony, recognized for his television performances in productions such as Being Human, Ripper Street, and Suspects. Ms. Warwick stated: “The modern re-imagining of Bergerac presents a fantastic opportunity to showcase Jersey on the global stage, connecting with devoted fans of the original series and a new generation of viewers eager to visit the locations featured in the show.” The initial BBC series, which ran from 1981 to 1991, starred John Nettles as the titular character—a detective sergeant within the fictional Bureau des Etrangers, a division for non-residents located on the Channel Island of Jersey. Commencing in February, the forthcoming series will be accessible for viewing on the U and U&Drama channels. For updates, follow BBC Jersey on X and Facebook.
