A participant in a reality television series, who had no prior romantic relationships before marrying a stranger on the program, described the experience of watching the show as “tough.” Emma Barnes, a resident of Bristol, did not establish a connection with Caspar Todd following his revelation during their honeymoon that he was not drawn to “curvier” women. Mr. Todd subsequently offered an apology. Ms. Barnes commented, stating: “It’s not really what you expect on the first day of the honeymoon. “But you join this programme for a journey and often the people that don’t fall in love at first sight will have a journey of growth together.” She further added, “I’ve watched enough series for that to happen – I absolutely forgave him,” and concluded, “We’re still on speaking terms – not the best of friends. It’s still quite tough watching it back for the both of us.” The 31-year-old, who characterizes herself on Instagram as “Bristol’s own Bridget Jones with a twist,” expressed feeling like a “Z-list” celebrity now that the 9th series of the program has concluded. She stated: “I’m going to the gym with no make-up on and I get stopped on the bus,” adding, “It’s great though – I love it. I’m a huge fan of the show so I’d be exactly the same.” She further remarked: “I think it’s an enjoy-it-while-you-can moment.” Ms. Barnes appeared alongside Nathan Campbell, who was also a groom from the most recent series, on the BBC Points West sofa. When questioned about the possibility of a future relationship between them, Ms. Barnes responded with laughter. She clarified: “No, we’re like brothers and sisters. We all live in the apartment, we all knock each others’ doors and pop round for a wine.” Mr. Campbell commented: “I’m positive vibes only and she’s [Ms Barnes] got good positivity.” He added: “I will say, if it don’t work out [his relationship] it’s good practice.” Readers can follow BBC Bristol on Facebook, X, and Instagram.
