A staff member, attired as a clown, was hospitalized subsequent to a needle attack during a Halloween event. This occurrence took place on Monday evening at the Ffear Fforest event, hosted by Zip World in Betws-y-Coed, Conwy county. North Wales Police reported that the individual sustained a needlestick injury and was discharged from the hospital following preventative examinations. Zip World stated that their employee encountered a “potentially dangerous medical device.” The police force further indicated that investigations are in progress and affirmed that “there is no risk to the wider public.” Zip World commented: “The member of staff was dressed in fancy dress as a clown and part of Zip World’s entertainment team.” They also confirmed: “They were discharged from hospital last night.” The company also stated that security protocols at the location, which was temporarily closed for police investigation but has since resumed operations, have been enhanced, and they are cooperating with law enforcement. Attendees at the event recounted being left in darkness subsequent to the assault, with police conducting searches of every vehicle for over two hours. An unidentified woman remarked: “There were a lot of people asking questions and a lot of crying.” She continued, describing the scene: “The music was turned off and we were told to go back to our cars. We waited in the car park for more than two hours while police searched every vehicle.” She added: “No-one was allowed to leave, people were getting frustrated and there was a lot of beeping.” The woman also observed: “There were teenagers standing around waiting for their parents to pick them up, they were cold and shivering.” Both she and another customer, who had each purchased tickets for approximately £30, are uncertain if they will receive a refund.
