Mick Mills, a former player for Ipswich Town, analyzed the team’s 2-1 loss to Bournemouth during a recent broadcast of BBC Radio Suffolk’s Final Whistle program. He stated, “The first half was outstanding. We started off with five minutes of exchanges with Bournemouth fighting for possession. They were pressing quick and hard and we squirmed out of those situations nicely and kept hold of the ball and almost said to Bournemouth, ‘you’ve got a tough game today’.” Mills further commented on the first half, noting, “We put the pressure on them and it was a great performances in the first half from some individuals. Conor Chaplin was one and Cameron Burgess without doubt and then you’ve got Liam Delap, who joined us and has been outstanding, those three were unbelievable.” Regarding the second half, Mills expressed difficulty understanding the shift in performance: “In the second half, it’s difficult to understand why you can be right up there having a great performance and then come out looking second best. We got through to the 70th minute. We hadn’t played well, but we got through it without conceding. There were signs they [Bournemouth] were getting frustrated and we were beginning to improve.” He continued, “Slowly but surely, we were getting to the end of the game and it felt like we were going to win and get the first three points of the season, but then a big mistake.” Mills elaborated on the error, stating, “It was a big mistake. You should never ever come to deal with a ball that is on the ground just entering the box over in the left-hand corner of the penalty area. There were three Town players close enough to stop that player. There was no reason for the goalkeeper [Arijanet Muric] to come. He has to work these things out.” He then assessed Muric’s performance, saying, “Muric is an OK goalkeeper. I don’t think he’s an improvement of what we’ve had last season. Christian Walton he’s the most patient guy in the world. I believe Walton deserves an opportunity. How many mistakes does Muric have to make for Christian to get his chance? This is one too many for me.” Post navigation Wales Internationals Included in Gwalia Lightning and Brython Thunder Celtic Challenge Squads Ipswich 0-1 Crystal Palace: Audience Invited to Share Views
