Brad O’Neill has committed his future to Wigan Warriors by signing a new five-year contract, which will keep him with the club until the conclusion of the 2029 season. This agreement follows an ACL injury he sustained in July during a match against Warrington. The 22-year-old, who first played for Wigan at the age of 18 in 2021, has already contributed to a Grand Final victory, participated in two Challenge Cup finals, and secured a World Club Challenge win against Penrith Panthers. However, he was absent from the Grand Final in October, a consequence of the ACL injury he incurred in July, an injury that is anticipated to sideline him until April. Speaking to the club’s website, O’Neill stated, “I feel my best years are certainly in front of me.” He added, “I feel that this is the best club for me to develop, with this group of players, coaching staff and facilities.” O’Neill represents the most recent homegrown player to finalize a new long-term agreement with Wigan, joining forward Junior Nsemba and centre Zach Eckersley, who also recently signed extended deals. Head coach Matt Peet, who guided his team to an unprecedented quadruple, views this signing as further evidence of the club’s effective management. Peet commented, “It’s a big move for us to secure such an important member of the team for such a length of time.” He further remarked, “I love working with Brad, he is a great example of a Wigan player on and off the field. The fact he has come through our academy… A lot of our staff will be really proud.”
