A reservation system for recycling centres is slated for expansion to additional locations across Cornwall. This system, initially implemented this year at the Household Waste and Recycling Centres in Newquay, Saltash, and St Erth to alleviate waiting times, will be introduced at facilities in Bude, Launceston, St Austell, and Bodmin, officials have stated. Councillor Carol Mould, who holds the portfolio for neighbourhoods at Cornwall Council, reported that feedback from the sites where the system is already operational has been “overwhelmingly positive.” Members of the public will be required to book appointments in advance before visiting the Bude and Launceston Household Waste and Recycling Centres (HWRCs) starting November 29. The booking system is scheduled for introduction at the St Austell and Bodmin sites from December 9. The council indicated that the booking system is intended to reduce waiting periods and queues, enhance safety for road users, and minimize disruption for nearby residents and businesses. Appointments can be made either through the Cornwall Council’s official website or by telephone.
