Brisbane Heat have secured their qualification for the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) knockouts, achieving a nine-wicket triumph over the struggling Melbourne Stars. The contest was shortened to seven overs per side due to rain, with the Stars managing only 46 runs for six wickets. Heat spinner Jess Jonassen was instrumental, taking 3-8. The Heat successfully chased the target, losing just one wicket and with 10 balls remaining, thanks to Australian batter Grace Harris, who remained unbeaten with 21 runs from 16 deliveries. The top four teams from the group stage will advance, with the first-placed team proceeding directly to the final on 1 December. The teams finishing third and fourth will then compete in the Knockout match, and the winner of that game will face the second-placed team in the Challenger to determine the other finalist. The Heat now join Sydney Thunder and Melbourne Renegades in guaranteeing a top-four finish. A tight contest for the fourth position is currently unfolding between Hobart Hurricanes, Perth Scorchers, and Sydney Sixers. Meanwhile, the Stars are positioned at the bottom of the table and are no longer in contention for the finals.
