The Football Association has issued three-game bans to Walsall kitman Dave Joyce and pitchside announcer Simon Hill. These suspensions follow an incident that occurred during the Saddlers’ home fixture against Crewe Alexandra on November 9. The League Two match, which was a 1-1 home draw against promotion rivals Crewe, marked Walsall’s second consecutive stalemate. The incident involved a multi-person scuffle that erupted near the dugouts in the eighth minute of stoppage time. This occurred after the ball went out of play during the League Two encounter at Poundland Bescot Stadium, which ultimately concluded with a 1-1 scoreline. During the game, referee Stephen Parkinson sent off Joyce. Parkinson also issued bookings to Crewe manager Lee Bell and Saddlers defender Liam Gordon. Both Joyce and Hill have since admitted to acting in an “improper manner.” Consequently, Joyce received a fine of £350, while Hill was fined £100. The FA’s Independent Regulatory Commission is expected to publish the written reasons for its decision in due course. These documents are anticipated to provide more extensive details regarding the precise nature of the offences. Walsall, currently in fourth place in League Two following a series of draws, saw their home match against Gillingham postponed last Saturday. The team is scheduled to resume play this Saturday against AFC Wimbledon, with kick-off at 15:00 GMT.
