Brighton defender Poppy Pattinson has stated that her team will not dwell on their significant defeat by Arsenal last week as they prepare to face West Ham in the Women’s Super League this Saturday, with kick-off scheduled for 12:30 GMT. The Seagulls, who had been in strong form with four victories from their initial six league matches, suffered a 5-0 loss to the Gunners, managing only one shot on target. The left-back commented, “Last week was disappointing and we have worked hard this week to put it right.” She continued, stating, “It’s a mental game as well as a physical one. We can’t dwell on the last one too much and we know what we can put right. “We take the belief from the start of the season into this one [against West Ham].” Despite the previous week’s loss, Dario Vidosic’s side currently holds third place in the table, positioned one point ahead of both Arsenal and Manchester United. Pattinson remarked, “It’s a great feeling to be where we are right now sitting in the position we are.” She further added, “I’m not someone that just settles. We want to keep getting better. We started the season very well, we set high expectations for ourselves.” This weekend’s match is scheduled to be played at the Amex Stadium, the club’s main ground, and Pattinson conveyed that the team “love” competing there. She concluded, “It’s a great stadium and hopefully we can get a win there for our fans. “A game is a game, atmosphere can be brought anywhere, but these are the games we want to play in. We just want to put on a show.”
