A man who was left with life-changing injuries following a “random” attack in Blackpool in July remains hospitalized with severe injuries, his family has disclosed. John Forsyth, from East Lothian, was the victim of an unprovoked assault that resulted in a traumatic brain injury, his family stated, as they issued an appeal for witnesses to come forward. The incident occurred outside the Shores Hotel on Tyldesley Road in the Lancashire town at approximately 01:00 BST on 28 July. Mr Forsyth, who is in his 50s, had attempted to intervene in an altercation, according to police reports. Officers have interviewed six men in their 30s and a man in his 20s on suspicion of wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm, and inquiries “are ongoing”, Lancashire Police confirmed. In their appeal for anyone with information, Mr Forsyth’s family mentioned that he had been on a trip away with his daughter. They said: “Before the attack John was always active, had his own business and coached children’s football in his local community, all of this has now been impacted by a random assault.“John’s wife, daughter, son and wider family and friends have been deeply affected by the random nature of the assault and the consequences of his injury. “He and the family are looking for someone to be held responsible for what has happened to him, which has changed his life significantly and will continue to do so.” Police are also keen to speak to anyone who was in Happy Scot’s bar before 01:00.
