A collision involving a car and two female pedestrians resulted in one woman’s death and her daughter’s injury. Essex Police responded to the incident, which occurred just before 17:30 GMT on Thursday at the intersection of Hamlet Court Road and St John’s Road in Westcliff-on-Sea. The 52-year-old mother succumbed to her injuries in the hospital. According to the police force, her 23-year-old daughter sustained injuries that are neither life-threatening nor life-changing. The driver of a black Suzuki Splash, a 31-year-old woman, was apprehended on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and operating a vehicle while impaired by drink or drugs. A police spokesperson confirmed that she was still being held for questioning on Friday. Authorities have issued an appeal for witnesses to the incident.
