Middlesbrough defender Rav van den Berg, who has appeared in eight games this season, will be sidelined for a “number of weeks” due to a twisted knee injury. The Dutch centre-back sustained the injury during training, leading him to miss Saturday’s 3-0 loss to Coventry City. The 20-year-old is set to miss this week’s matches against Queens Park Rangers and Luton Town, as head coach Michael Carrick has not specified an exact return date. Speaking to BBC Radio Tees, Carrick stated, “The international break will help us in terms of him missing games.” He added, “Hopefully, we’ll get him back at some point after that, but it will be a number of weeks.” Middlesbrough currently occupies the 11th position in the Championship standings, trailing the play-off spots by three points.
