Mark Ogden of ESPN has stated that Manchester United would benefit significantly from appointing Ruben Amorim, the current manager of Sporting Lisbon, as Erik ten Hag’s successor. During an appearance on BBC Radio 5 Live’s Monday Night Club, Ogden commented, “There’s a bit of [Jose] Mourinho about him. He’s a real character.” He added that securing Amorim’s services “would be an extremely good appointment given the situation the club are in.” Nevertheless, Amorim is reportedly a prominent candidate for Manchester City if Pep Guardiola were to depart. His current club, Sporting, leads the Portuguese league with a perfect record of nine wins from nine matches and remains undefeated in the Champions League. Amorim is considered highly regarded across Europe, and Ogden reiterated that United would be wise to secure his appointment.
