Jurors in the trial of a man charged with punching and murdering another individual at a sports club have been presented with CCTV footage. On June 16, Grant Wallendorf, 45, was struck by Oscar Jackson outside the Ickleford Sports & Recreation Club in Hertfordshire. The club was broadcasting the European Championships football match between England and Serbia at the time. Mr. Jackson, 21, of Wilshere Crescent, Hitchin, has entered pleas of not guilty to both murder and manslaughter charges at the crown court in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. Prosecuting barrister Simon Wilshire stated that the CCTV footage depicted both men drinking at the club, prior to Mr. Jackson leaving the car park to urinate at approximately 22:30 BST. The recording displayed Mr. Wallendorf gesticulating in the car park, followed by Mr. Jackson striking him with his right fist. Mr. Wallendorf was observed falling backward. The jury was informed that Mr. Wallendorf sustained a brain injury and subsequently passed away in the hospital. The trial is ongoing.
