Derby County defender Curtis Nelson has signed a one-year contract extension, ensuring his stay at Pride Park until the summer of 2026. Nelson initially joined Derby on a free transfer in the summer of 2023 after leaving Blackpool. The 31-year-old participated in every minute of Derby’s League One campaign last season, contributing to their promotion back to the Championship. He was recognized as both the club’s Player of the Season and Players’ Player of the Season. Nelson was a central figure in a Rams defence that allowed only 37 league goals and achieved 22 clean sheets across all competitions. The defender, who previously played for Blackpool, Cardiff City, Oxford United, and Plymouth Argyle, has maintained his integral role in Paul Warne’s defensive lineup this season, starting every league match since the team’s return to the second tier.
