Jersey Post has issued guidance to islanders, recommending the early dispatch of Christmas cards and presents in anticipation of its peak operational period. The postal service on the island reported that approximately 30% more parcels and letters were delivered during November and December compared to an average month, attributing this increase to Black Friday sales and the Christmas period. Jersey Post also stated that its posties handled between 50,000 and 65,000 items during this peak season, with Mondays and Tuesdays identified as the busiest days. Julie Thomas, the managing director, advised individuals to endeavor to post items ahead of schedule to circumvent the holiday rush. She stated, “We’re ready for a busy peak period,” adding, “We’ve recruited extra staff and cleared the decks to increase capacity for larger items.” To mitigate potential delays, the postal service has recommended that islanders register for SecureDrop, which facilitates the delivery of parcels to a secure location. Furthermore, it noted that goods and services tax (GST) for any items exceeding £60 in value should be settled without delay. The service also specified that all mail destined for the UK and international locations must be completed accurately and adhere to specified weight and size restrictions. For items to reach their destination by Christmas, Jersey Post recommends that residents dispatch letters and parcels by the subsequent deadlines: Letters, cards and documents Parcels Post navigation Jersey’s aMaizin!
