The process to find the subsequent chief constable for Warwickshire Police has commenced. Philip Seccombe, the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for the force area, stated that the ideal applicant should possess “exceptional leadership skills, a public-facing approach, and a talent for community engagement”. This initiative follows the retirement announcement by Debbie Tedds, the former chief constable, effective in September. Ms. Tedds held the distinction of being the first female chief constable of the force, which was founded over 160 years ago. Mr. Seccombe commented: “The chief constable role is a pivotal role for policing and for local communities, so it is essential we find the right person who can lead Warwickshire Police forward over the next few years.” Alex Franklin-Smith, the force’s deputy chief constable, has been serving in the higher role on an interim basis since Ms. Tedds’ exit. According to the PCC, applications must be submitted by midday on 20 November. After selection, the chosen candidate and the PCC are mandated to appear at a public confirmation hearing before the Warwickshire Police and Crime Panel.
