The family of 19-year-old Ellis Cox has made public a recent photograph, captured on the day he was killed at a Merseyside industrial estate, as efforts to find his murderer persist. This picture, obtained from doorbell camera footage, depicts Mr. Cox outside his aunt’s residence on June 23. He was collecting a bicycle around 17:00 BST before proceeding to Southport. Later that day, approximately at 23:00 BST, Mr. Cox was fatally shot at the Liver Industrial Estate in Aintree, Sefton. In a statement issued through Merseyside Police, his family stated: “We are appealing for your help. Who took Ellis from us? We are still looking for answers and need Liverpool and our local community’s support now more than ever.” The family further added: “This picture of Ellis was taken as he collected the bike from his aunt’s house, happy to be heading off on a bike ride on a lovely sunny day heading to Southport.”Our beautiful Ellis. The pain does not get any easier and, if anything it’s harder, we are broken”.” Although four individuals have been apprehended, no charges have been brought forward to date. Law enforcement officials indicated that subsequent to picking up the bicycle, he proceeded to Aintree station to meet his friends. Investigators suspect the group then journeyed towards Southport, with Mr. Cox spending time in Ormskirk before returning home by bike with the same companions. The statement implored anyone who may have observed anything between approximately 22:00 and 23:00 BST on that specific day, including cyclists, delivery personnel, and employees at the industrial estate, to get in touch with the police. It particularly inquired if anyone witnessed Mr. Cox and four other young males riding bicycles on Long Lane near the church or in the vicinity of the Liver Industrial Estate. Mr. Cox’s family announced their continuation of a 10,000-leaflet door-to-door distribution effort on Saturday. The family confirmed that these leaflets would contain the necessary details for contacting law enforcement, with an option for anonymity if preferred. Detective Chief Inspector Steve McGrath, who serves as the senior investigating officer, stated: “We remain as determined as ever to get justice for Ellis’s family.”
